A collection of quotes I am compiling, which I find personally meaningful in some way, or at the very least interesting. It will probably keep getting bigger over time.
"Put yourself in their shoes before you decide on the best way to take their shirts." -David Sklansky, poker player
"Meeting is merely the beginning of separation." -Japanese Proverb
"A baby born with eyes too bright, a face too canny, a personality too precocious, was sacrificed for fear that it was host to a spirit that would in time become a witch by day, a black cat by night." -Panati's Extraordinary Origins of Everyday Things, by Charles Panati
"All beings quiver before violence.
All beings fear death.
All beings love life.
Remember that you are like them.
As they are like you.
Then whom would you hurt?
What harm would you do?
He who seeks happiness
By hurting others who seek happiness
Will never find happiness.
Not in the sky,
Nor in the depths of the sea,
Nor in the deepest mountains,
Can you hide from your misdeeds.
-Hokukyo
"These were the lovely bones that had grown around my absence: the connections—sometimes tenuous, sometimes made at great cost, but often magnificent—that happened after I was gone. And I began to see things in a way that let me hold the world without me in it. The events my death brought were merely the bones of a body that would become whole at some unpredictable time in the future. The price of what I came to see as this miraculous lifeless body had been my life."
-The Lovely Bones, by Alice Sebold
Also, I am disabling comments, since I do not see this as something worth receiving comments on. Thank you! ^^
